With the continued popularity of military or characters with military backgrounds in literature, Jack Reacher being an example, Lt. Col. (ret) Riley will discuss his military career in the U.S. Air Force, both as an enlisted member and officer.

He’ll share his perspectives on:

  • deployments
  • working with specialists, agencies, and other services
  • combat
  • how skills are developed in the military to include reasonable expectations
  • public vs. professional perspective on service
  • service members reentering society, including following traumatic experiences

After, he’ll  interactively discuss any questions you might have with stories to illustrate various points of our discussion.

More about author Bill Riley

author Bill Riley, seated

Bill Riley is an award-winning author of memoir and fantasy. He’s a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel who has worked with intelligence and special operations professionals from every service, virtually every intelligence agency, and several friendly foreign governments. His stories require Intelligence Community approval—and he is obligated to say—that the fantastic events depicted in his fantasy books did not happen, and the world was never truly in danger.

Recently, he has ghostwritten a book for a Texas politician and he is currently hard at work on completing his Cypher series.
